Problem Note 49533: "Error trying to establish connection" might occur when you attempt to open an information map in SAS® Enterprise Guide®
When you attempt to open an information map in SAS Enterprise Guide, you might see the following error:
ERROR: Error trying to establish connection: Unable to create Data Source.: Class not registered
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
This error can occur in the following circumstances:
- The information map is using third-party data.
- The LIBNAME statement for the third-party data includes a quoted INIT_STRING.
- The PROVIDER option on the INIT_STRING does not include a
.1
after the provider name.
- You have installed the hot fix from SAS Note 45152, or you are using the second maintenance release for SAS 9.3 (TS1M2) or later.
As a workaround, edit the PROVIDER option on the INIT_STRING to include .1 after the provider name, as shown here.
INIT_STRING="Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Password=xxxx;Persist Security Info=True;
User ID=xxxxx;InitialCatalog=Northwind;Data Source=sqldatasource"
